Cape - June 2012

We decided to make a quick Cape visit to see some friends and arrange for a trip to the Richtersveld.

Usually I choose a yellow to brown background - but for this page I have chosen blue - as it was cold.

On the way down we visited the Karoo National Park where the vehicle remained so cold that Sylvia used the seat warmers for the first time and I thought the heater had broken as no warm air seemed to be entering the vehicle with the heater full on.

The light was not good for the duration of the trip and therefore we took less pictures than we usually would.

We also visited Storms River Mouth from the Aventura Resort in Plettenburg Bay and then went on to Addo Elephant Park where we managed to get a booking in a chalet for one night. On the way to Addo we followed the GPS and ended up very very far from the main gate. I drove and just followed instructions until we really had no idea where we were when I asked a game ranger's wife how to get to the main gate. Fortunately we always have lots of fuel - and about two hours later we arrived where we wanted to be.

We did quite a lot of driving - just under 4000 kilometers

This will only mean something to people who know how to get to the Addo Main Gate from Plettenburg Bay.

The trip was short but we had a good time and managed to visit friends on the way as well.
